SAFE is a key player in the creation of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations for the automotive market. Our technical expertise has enabled us to design, build and install more than 3000 compression units in the world of Compressed Natural Gas. SAFE is able to respond to any specific requirements with a variety of competitive solutions thanks to: compression units with direct coupling to an electric motor or gas engine, design pressure reduction and measurement systems and storage pack.

AN INCREASINGLY POPULAR ECO-FRIENDLY ALTERNATIVE

Compared to conventional diesel, natural gas combustion cuts pollutants by half, thus reducing pollution in populated areas. A solution that is increasingly widespread in Italy and throughout Europe: in 2020, a total of 4,000 CNG distributors in Europe, including 1,400 in Italy, contributed to reducing CO2 emissions (g/Km) by 9.1% compared to the previous year.

GAS TREATMENT

From recompression of the gas in reservoirs to gas turbine feeding, from the underground gas storage of gas underground to flaring and gas gathering: these are the areas of application of the Gas Treatment Division. The “tailor made” approach of SAFE allows each request to be handled by providing a unique and customised response. 

These are compact designs on single or double skid with a compressor on board, coupled to an electric motor or gas engine, as well as all the auxiliaries, including the cooling, filtration and pulsation dampening systems. High levels of safety are guaranteed through soundproof and waterproof enclosures equipped with fire&gas detection and firefighting systems.

BIOMETHANE

Building on the experience gained in gas compression, in 2009 SAFE launched its new biogas division providing highly customised turnkey solutions for biomethane generation systems both on a small scale (50-300 Sm3/hour) and plants for grid injection (150-5,000 Sm3/hour). These solutions are designed and implemented to meet the needs of different markets such as automotive, domestic use, industrial use and biomethane grid distribution.

SAFE SOLUTIONS FOR BIOMETHANE

SAFE is also able to implement turnkey solutions through a tailor-made enclosure that houses the entire solution: from output of biomethane from the upgrading system to high-pressure compression for vehicle refuelling or for re-injection into the grid or industrial use. In addition to high-pressure compression, we also provide biomethane storage, dispensers, odoriser, gas analyser and pressure reduction systems for a complete and efficient service.

ENERGY FROM A BIOLOGICAL PROCESS THAT IS GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

SAFE has decided to invest in the biomethane market: from re-injection into the grid to use for vehicles and as a source of heat in industrial activities. An important project to support and enhance the potential for development and use of renewable energy generated by exploiting the natural decomposition of organic material, from waste to agricultural biomass.

Since 2010, the growth of biomethane production has stimulated the global biogas market, creating the basis for a sustainable and circular economy: the biogas chain has become the driver for the development and production of clean energy sources
